ADAT and DI-100 (direct box)

Hello.
I got an elco cable, and was thinking about if its possible to use a DI-100 (beringher direct box) direct in the adat, to record v-amp, a microphone or any other source, instead of a pre-amp or a board output.
The reason is , my mixing board has too little channels, and I am trying to figure out ways to keep it in my budget... ( PS. not professional studio owner, just home stuff).

As long as the output level of the DI matches the input of the ADAT, it is entirely possible - how good a sound you'll get, now that's a different story...
