Cool

Would it be possible to, let's say, record a bunch of tracks on cubase, then burn the dry tracks onto a CD-R, erase the tracks from the hard drive, and then load the tracks into the program straight from the CD and mix them off the CD, rather than the hard drive. You know to conserve hard drive space.

Wink

The problem with CD-ROM's is that they do not provide fast enough data transfer, especially when your working with several tracks. CD-R is great for archiving but just doesn't have the throughput to do what you describe.

It is possible, but the transfer could be an issue. I use a burner(Philips) to store all of my audio files on CD and have never had a problem. When ever I have a lot of data transfer I might move the audio files over to a temp. folder for quicker access, do my thing, come to a stopping point and save the new data to a CD-RW. It works well, & doesn't take up a ton of space. I may regret it later but I'm love'n it now.
