Max Sonar 2.2 XL Bundle size ?
Does anybody know ? I heard it was 2 gig but SOMETIMES (which is strange as it is inconsistent) Conar will let me create a <2gig file while other times it gives me a message about being unable to create an out put file..
Thx ! Greg |

I think it was an OS restriction -- Windows 98 and earlier have a maximum file size limit of 2 GB.
By the way, <2gig means "less than 2 gig" -- from the context of your message you must have meant >2 gig... |

Gee, I never work over 2 gigs per project, but I believe it's OS (File system ?
) problem. I even remember years ago when my old MS DOS wont detect HD over 2 Gigs... Have you tried Win XP (NTFS) ?

24 bit and 96KZ makes 2 gig bundle files VERY easy to achieve.

It seems completely inconsistent, and I don't think it is a 2 gig limit. I've had buns fail 'lack of memory' or 'disk full' with smaller sizes, and had others that were larger than 2 gig. Sometimes when I got rid of some tracks it helped, other times not. (You can reduce bun size by exorsizing -er, I mean, doing a 'clean audio disk', which might help.)

If you have done a lot of slip editing to the project, the apply trimming command will also help reduce the size.

In fact, after looking in the "Sonar 2 Power" (as I can't find my manual), the bundles doesen't have a maximum filesize. Then it must be the OS.

I'm running into this problem (with HS2004 bundles) and searching here for the answer. At around the 2GB mark, I get an error message indicating my "disk is full", which is not the case. I'm working with live 8 track recordings (eg long, no edits) no "cleanup" possible.
OS is Win98 which has a filesize limit of 4GB IIRC. Getting ready to see what happens with a 2K or XP OS, but I've got a lot of 98 boxes I'd like to use. |

To my knowledge, there is a max. limit on bundle files of 2 gb. This is not an OS problem, but inherent in the bundle format itself. The workaround is to use "per project" storage and save the project file and assocciated waves as separate files.

It's a shame that the answer is still the same, though. ![]() |
