ADAT MOTU 2408mkII transfer questions

I have a project that was recorded partially on my computer in Cool Edit Pro 1.2a and partially at a friends using an ADAT XT20. I recently purchased an ADAT XT20. I want to transfer tracks recorded in CEP to the ADAT using the lightpipe to transfer digitally. I also want to transfer tracks recorded at his house to CEP.

I've tried every combination I can think of between the

Device settings and preferences in CEP
MOTU PCI 324 console settings
Setting the ADAT for digital in 16 bit 44.1 samples

As I normally record analog into MOTU to CEP, I have 8 preamp going to all the MOTUs analog ins. I've tried (in the MOTU PCI 324 console settings) setting Analog and ADAT to various A, B and C banks and switching the output sources to all different settings I can, still nothing.

I have so far only tried to transfer from computer to ADAT, as I have no ADAT tapes with anything on them. I can't get a recording signal to register on the ADAT.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Pete

Set the input on the ADATs to digital and arm the tracks. The clock on the MOTU should be set to Internal (unless you're using an external word clock source). Set the track destinations in CEP, hit play and record on the ADATs and play on CEP.

Thanks Track. I at least got results, but with other problems now :-(

I transfered 4 tracks from CEP. The ADAT recorded CEP track 1 on ADAT tracks 1 and 2, CDE track 2 on ADAT 3 and 4, CEP track 3 on ADAT tracks 5 and 6, and CEP track 4 on ADAT track 7 and 8.

In CEP, I cant seem to set the signal to send on any other than track 1,2; Track 3,4; track 5,6; and track 7,8. I've tried setting the MOTU to mono routing, but it doesnt show up in the playback selection setting in CEP.

Any suggestions?

Pete

Say for instance tracks one and two in CEP are to go to ADAT tracks one and two. Assign them both to ADAT tracks 1-2, pan track one left and two right in CEP and they'll end up where they're supposed to.
