I have a blackface Adat with 600 hours on it. As you can tell I don't put alot of mileage on my machines. The following occured after a long time of inactivity. The machine plays fine while in play mode. As soon as the tape stops, all sorts of digital type noise comes out of the outputs and any number of the meters will max out with the digital noise. The noise is even there when the tape disengages, along with maxed out meters. I have cleaned the head and the transport and initialized the machine. Any ideas anybody?

Feedback loop from the digital ins/outs??
What do you have connected to the unit?

Then you must take it for a trip to the vet.... there's absolutely nothing you can do yourself to fix this kind of a problem.

Thanks Blue Bear. Any idea what could be wrong and what kind of expense is involved? These things go pretty cheap on Ebay now days.

Off-hand, I have no idea - but you could contact Stan Jacox at the Studio Maintenance Centre...!
