Art work in the studio

Why is it that you never see art work, like framed pictures on the walls in studios?

I think artwork of some sort is a neccessity for helping to create a good vibe. I personally have a lot of Mexican folk art in my studio.

I just ordered some trade ad 8 x 10 posters for framing to put around my studio. Just of different musicians that I admire.

Thanks for all the replies.
The reason I ask is because I don't see it much in the pictures that are posted.
At first I thought it was because the glass may be an unwanted reflective surface, but then so are the double sliding glass doors and the control room windows.

I think you could mount them in such a manner as to not rattle with maybe some weather striping on the back of the frame where it contacts the wall.

I have a BUNCH of what are known as "window cards" from various Broadway plays, musicals and other performances. They are nicely framed and are about 17"x22" in size. Definately limited edition artwork, that I think would look REAL nice on the walls of the studio.

From memory the ones I have are:
Phantom of the Opera
Aspects of Love
Cats
Jesus Christ Superstar
Beauty and the Beast
Miss Siagon
Les Miserables
Dire Straights
Count Basie

and a few others that look very dramatic!

Now all I need are walls.

What about attaching them (some 8 X 10 pics) to some of the DIY bass traps that are hung on the wall. The trap could serve as a nice back drop for some framed pictures.

any thoughts or problems?

NOTE: My girlfriend came up with that idea...I thought it was prety good.

Michael Jones,

Here's my perspective. I'm nobody, but if I were a client of yours and walked into your studio, and there was a big Phantom of the Opera painting hanging in the room.....well I'm pretty sure I'd be distracted to the point that I just couldn't play.

I think maybe in an effort to not offend anyone, you just leave it out.....if you're be paid by people to use your space to get down their creative ideas to tape.

Just a thought. What inspires one person to creativity, may actually make another person want to vomit.

Count Basie might be cool....for me. I've got a framed Miles Davis record that I have by my piano.

I take it you're not an Andrew Lloyd Webber fan then?
It's not a big one, just a placard, 14x22. (It's not opera you know, it's just set in an opera house.)

Not a fan of musical theater huh?

Maybe something like this then.

Point well taken. Thanks for your input.

Michael,

Those are very cool, and I think (IMO) they would be very appropiate. I mean people put those up in their living rooms, and they can look good if done right. I say hang away. It might even be good on some of the lesser attention walls. I guess find a balance between one sparse poster and a hundred.
