dmp3 opamp, what is it?
everyone around here seems to be a dmp3 fan.
question: what sort of opamp chip is in it? and if anyone knows anything about circuit design, how does the circuit look? good design? some serious compromises? or just plain simple?

The Analog Devices SSM 2017 is not in production anymore. If they ever used it, they probably switched to a Burr Brown. The INA 217 (I think) is a pin compatible replacement, but there's also other Burr Browns (like the INA163) for the same purposes.

Hey, you're El Mariachi, right? It's pretty cold here, as you can imagine, there might be snow tomorrow.
Well, I don't know that much about electronics, but the INA217 is said to be a replacement: http://focus.ti.com/docs/prod/folders/print/ina217.html Burr Browns are pretty popular right now. I think a while ago someone mentioned that the DMP3 is based on a Burr Brown chip, but I wouldn't know which. I don't think they ever used an SSM 2017 as it probably was already out of production when it was designed. But maybe they used in the DMP2, who knows? Companies change chips all the time. I opened all my Behringer rack gear a while ago and compared different revisions of the Composer and other stuff. While the layout essentially remains the same there is some variation on chips used. Early composers for instance have DBX chips, later ones use THAT replacements. In-between there's some that have DBX chips with a drop of paint over the DBX logos. They also used quite a variety of different op amps after they ran out of their own Behringer chips. |
