rabiduz is on a distinguished road
**wanted: Laptop/usb Soundcard(and Advice)**

What's up...

Recently got a 2 ghz, 512 Ram Laptop, and I'd like to use it for multitracking. I'm coming off of a Roland Vs-840ex that I just got rid of, so i had very crisp and clear audio quality with that. I dont know much about laptop soundcards/installation, So I believe that a USB would be in order. I need something with a breakout box, or just an External soundcard all together. I need silent, crisp sound, like i had with the Roland. The soundblaster pro that's in there right now is incredibly noisey, hum, static, distortion etc... That's unacceptable for the recordings I will be doing.

Please let me know what to do here. Thanks!

Roland UA-5. Comes with two channels of pre's and a headphone amp. It is via USB and has a breakout box. I used it for a long time and it always did me good. If you already have pre's I would get the new M-audio USB device.
