What's a VST or DirectX plugin, and...

how does n-Track take advantage of either of them? I really need an education here. Somehow I thought n-Track was only compatible with DirectX. Am I wrong?

Thanks for your help!

Cool

earlier versions of N-Track can't use VST plugins, but newer ones can (2.1 was the first?).....

im not sure how to define a plug-in......its basically a program used with a DX/VST "host" program (like N-Track)......

the best thing to do is download N-Track, download some plugins, and read the N-Track help file on plugins.....(help/contents/plugins).......

I should have been more clear. I know what a plug-in is, but I don't know the different categories of plug-ins.

Are VST plug-ins spin-offs from Steinberg's format and DirectX plug-ins a proprietary design from another software house?

Can n-Track use both types equally well?
Thanks again.
