Sonar 2.0 XL,etc. on Ebay worth buying?

Hey guys, I find that on Ebay they are selling Brand New 2.0XL and 2.0 for 100-200.00 less than in stores,GC,MF,etc. Is there a catch here or a Great deal to snatch up on?
Also, what would be a basic sound card to run Sonar 2.0?
Would starting with a Mackie 1202 VLZpro mixer and DMP3 mic pre be good for starters? I'll be using a P4 1.5G 712ram,etc.

Thanks for all the help!

SONAR 2.0 : $200
Rock N' Roll : Priceless...

Kiddin'... yes !!! That's a good deal. Was that including shiping ? Ah, nevermind... get it while you can. Update from Cakewalk site for 2.1 and 2.2

...the good thing is, even gamers card (like SB Live!) can be used on the fly. But for more task & feature, go better sound cards.

...That's cool man. Regular users starting with this set up, no problem. Ask for more if you need more...

I noticed alot of Sonor software to be bought at great prices, but alot of them say you have to be a student, etc. to get it at that price? What will happen if I buy it but not being a student? HELP! Thanks! Peter ><>

its for academic pricing.

if your mother is a teacher. or you are a student.. or if some other circumstance in your life makes you eligible for academic pricing... then you can buy software for like 80% off...

my mother in law is a principle at a nearby high school.. so for really expensive software packages I always try to take advantage of that angle.

I bought Sonar 2.2XL for full price though I didnt realize they had an academic pricing program!

I would have to say to read carefully. A lot of these have already been registered, and it is unclear (at least to me) whether the registration can be transferred, and if so, whether the seller will take the time to transfer it for you. This could limit your upgrades.

If it all works out, then do it!!

I bought SONAR 2.0XL off Ebay from one of those places and paid way way way less than I would have anywhere else (in CDN$, I got it for $500 and at the local music store it is $850 (roughly $320 US versus $550)). It is fine and good and totally legit. Just be sure to email teh seller and ensure that there is a guarantee if it doesn't work, or if the license number isn't valid. Check the seller's reputation in the comments. i bought mine from someone who had sold at least 40-50 copies of Sonar and everyone said "great, just as promised". Ebay can be risky, but they also have good coverage for fraud etc.

Just be sure to have a good email trail showing who said what.

i bought sonar on ebay, used 'buy it now'. no problems. i can't remember who i bought it from.

just make sure it's unregistered, legit software, from someone who has a lot of good feedback and you should be pretty safe.
