Help me make decision!!! 424mkIII or Digital1000

The TDM-1000 is only a mixer, you need something to hook it up to to record. I've heard mixed opinions about this unit as it is...the Tascam 424MKIII is an awesome unit though. I have one for sale actually, I've only had it for 5 months and it's in excellent condition, check out my post:

I have no experience recording but I'm seeking to get into it. My local store has a sale on the Tascam424mkIII for $399 and the Tascam Digital 1000 for only $499!! What should I get? HELP!!!

It's called Guitar Center.
