Programs

What is the best program to produce rap beats in your opinion? What are you using? How does it work for you?

Fruity Loops is a pretty cool program. You can get it hella cheap too.

You can use it to hold and layer your samples. Then, you can use an external controller to trigger the samples. I use my MPD-16 for the purpose of triggering the samples I've loaded in Battery.

Battery is a pleasure. All my drums and sound fx are triggered though Battery these dayz.

BTW I'm using Cubase 5.1. i checked out a demo of SX, its so different from 5.1 that i didnt even give it a real try.

hi d ho man

sx is cool, but you have to go to the site and check out all of the complaints about it. users of 5.0 have to get adjusted to the new layout. i worked with it for a small time and liked it. the joint has an azz load of vst plugins for you to work with. i choose to stick with sonic foundry because it's simple and to the point.

back from the hole

how i use battery

i use my mpd-16 to play the drums samples on my keyboard basically just registering the notes
then from sx i load battery as a vst and if the kick was played on the keyboard's D#1 key i load a kick that i want on the D#1 cell of battery et voila

did that make sense
SPINSTERWUN do you use either battery or the mpd as a stand alone
