I'll have my tonic with gin.
A fifth ought to do nicely.

I always remember somebody explaining how to sing harmony. It's easy - just keep changing the note until everybody in the room stops wincing

any two notes played together are a harmony. Some dissonant some not.

Throw in a secondary dominant (the fifth of the fifth) and open some more doors...in fact, keep adding fifths to that and then play the sequence back until you reach the tonic....a simple song bridge ini the making.

Yep!

It took getting into country music (fiddle work) for me to fully appreciate (and expect) the secondary dominant. It's used alot in that genre.

theory is gooooooooood. Harmony is gooooooooood.

My teacher told me counterpoint is the real thing and harmony is just the start of it. So next year, or maybe in 2 years (depending on the program I'll follow) the real fun will start. Oh jäj.

And you don't need to talk "belgique" for that. (We talk dutch in this part of belgium btw, but I like french more. On girls that is, but there's no real reason to talk to guys anyway. Is there? ) More than half of the books on music I read/study are in English.
