Equipment:
M-Audio Delta 44 soundcard/breakout box
Behringer Eurorack MX1604A
2 Oktava MK012 cardioid condenser mics
Shure Beta 52 on kick
Shure SM57 on snare

Environment:
Don't get any of the desired acoustic sound I want from my basement.

I wanna know what I can do to get a thick, acoustic sound out of the Pearl Forum drums I have at my house with 4 mics.

ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like its not miced close enough. Or perhaps you need to bring them up in the mix. Work with an EQ.

I tried recording the drums with less gain to avoid an instance of clipping. If you listen to my other recordings you'll notice the clipping. I guess I didn't do too great of a mixing job...

I want that warm acoustic drum tone, anyone have any advice for me?

If you say that you can't get the sound you want in your basement and are using a Pearl Forum, I don't think that there's a whole lot anyone can tell you. You'll just need to work with what you have. What heads and tuning are you using?

If you really want a warm acoustic sound, you need:

1. A warm, quality wood set with good heads and proper tuning.
2. A great sounding room.
3. A drummer that knows how to play (ie consistency, balance etc.).
4. The proper mics (which you have).

Remember that as with ANYTHING in recording, you HAVE to have a warm, big sound before a mic is even taken out of it's case.

I tried giving it a full sound. I crawled back to oversnare micing, give up on undersnare micing.
