How can I change channels in the 5050

Hello, I have Sonar 2.0 and a Roland XV-5050. I use the 5050's editor to change patches. But when I go to the next track and choose a different patch, my first track also changes to the new patch. Do I need to change a channel in the 5050 as well as in Sonar? If so, how? If not, then what should I do? Thanks.
