recording vocals on the vs-2480

Hi,
Friends say I always have a long face whenever I record vocals on the 2480 with a AKGC300B mic.I simply just have not been able to get clean and clear (let alone,bright) vocals coz boosting the highs results in ear splitting sibilance and using the built in deesser makes them sound nasal/boxy.What can I do to solve this problem?Could anyone help,please?
