Too much Bass Boom

I use a boss CS-1 for recording bass yet it is hard to control, it distorts my PA cabs (15" Eminence and horns) as soon as the vol gets up. Am I missing something obvious?

i know this sounds stupid but did you try re-adjusting your levels on your equipment....cuase when i get out the big daddy amp, ive found when i crank it, it sounds bad unless i turn down all the nobs a bit...

Yes, I've tried all sorts, the best seems to be bass to compresspor to DI box to PC, but I prefer the sound of the amp.
