noise

hey,

Will a bad mic preamp add noise? How is the DMP3 as far as noise goes? What about the Presonus tube channel pre?

Yes, a bad preamp will add noise... but a good preamp will add noise too, if you don't have the input and output trims set correctly. For instance - if you've got the input trim set really low, and try to make up for the lack of signal by cranking up the output of the preamp, there's a good chance that you'll hear the electrons bumping around (noise in the form of hiss). So, make certain your preamp input and putput settings are appropriate for the signal you're sending to it.

The Blue Tube is pretty quiet unless you crank it. Not a bad little amp.
