Newbie problem :)

Hi. I have this problem:
I hit record. I record my drums. no problem
But, it's a bit hard to explain, when i look at my track, I can see the drums...errr...you know all the lines that go up and down on the track(don't know the term) like this: -|--|--|--|--|-
You can see where the drum hits...If you don't get it i'll try to explain again
But then, when I record guitars, by just clicking record again, i can also see those drums in my 2nd track, I don't want this...How do I make a recording of the guitar by PFL'ing the drums, without seeing the drums on my guitar track? Otherwise I can't put fx in it...

Not sure if this is your problem, but go to the N-Track "Help" section and look up "bleeding" and "setting recording levels". Sounds like a track isolation issue. There's a short description of the problem in the "Getting Started Tutorial" as well.

My first newbie post with n-Track was this very question.So it gives me pleasure to try and help you out.
Go to programs-accessories-entertainment-volume control.
Then option-properties-recording.
If I recall corectly,windows default is to have "wave" checked.Uncheck that box.All you want is mic or line in selected,depending on what you are using.And if you are using the mic in,it sux (and its just mono to boot!).Get a mixer or other device to get your signal level up and use the line in.
Now,when you record the 2nd track,the first track is getting re-recorded through the wave out.Disable that and you should be ok.

I don't know how to disable the wave out and stuff.
the only thing that is checked now, (with my recording options is Line-in 2(mixer))...

If the only thing checked is your *line in*, in the recording properties, thats definately how you want that set.

So are you recording your guitar by mic'ng the amp?

I'm guessing so. Then the problem may lay in the playback properties instead. i.e. when you record your guitars, the drums are blaring out of your speakers in the background and are being picked up by the microphone.

What you need to do in this case is either A) uncheck all the little boxes in your playback properties (above recording properties) or B) plug headphones in where your speakers are.

If this doesnt help, let us know what kinda sound card you are using at least.
