ADAT Transfer

Hello:

We have recently purchased Roland VS-2480, so I'm a newbie to the system. Previously, we have tracked our music onto 2 ADAT XT's. We bought the Roland DIF-AT modules. My question is how to dump our tracks from the ADATs to the Roland. The manual is very sparse in this area. Thanks for any info!!

The DIF AT unit converts the the R-Bus signal to ADAT Lightpipe (or Tascam's T-DIF) signal - allowing transmission of 8 channels of digital i/o at a time....

Connect the digital output (lightpipe) of your ADAT to the lightpipe input on your DIF AT module.....

Connect the ADAT sync cable from the DIF AT to the ADAT sync input..........

Wire the DIF AT unit to the R-BUS connectors on the 2480.........

Thanks, Bear!

One question: Since I have two ADATs, from which ADAT do I run the sync cable? Will the Roland now be the "master" or will the first ADAT still be the master? This might be kind of important for synching.

One of the ADATs should be the master. Also the Roland should be set to slave to the ADAT clock.
