Portastudio 07 won't playback--help!

I 've had my 07 for several years. I bought it new but haven't been able to use it much for the last 5 years. I broke it out and was quickly reminded of the "no playback" problem that I was having the last time I used it. It just stops playing. I don't know what might cause it. Has anybody ever had this problem before? It has never been cleaned, so could that be it? Also, it is interesting that I had no problem recording a couple of test tracks. No problem with it stopping while I was recording, even though I listened to the two tracks several times during the process. I'm using old C-90 tapes. Could that be the problem? I'm grasping here. I finally get the old creative juices flowing again and now my rig won't work. It ain't good. I would appreciate any help. Thanks.
