People's stuff I'd like to hear in the MP3 clinic
since C Harris posted a thread on pictures, maybe I can dig out some people and get them to post their stuff.
In no particular order, but mainly because you NEVER hear their stuff, or it is extremely limited as to what has been posted 1. Littledog (never heard a peep) 2. Tubedude (yeah..he has the one thread, but that is an old one that was resurrected) 3. Bluebear (not the Cure song and his brothers jazz stuff..any originals from the bear?) 4. Sonusman (something original that HE LIKES...not something thrown together, or some POS band he just recorded) 5. Harvey Gerst (I believe I've heard some clips, but extremely dated sounding, if I remember. Something current?) 6. Tom Cram (does he record?) 7. Alan Hyatt (same question..) 8. some of the crew in the gtr forums... 64Firebird, Speedemmon, Lopp...etc... all those shredders. Need more flash gtr music!! 9. Monty... does he have a record button? 10. C7sus and/or Riley 11. Anyone else that I have forgotten. I pick these guys because they have each offered tons of info, (in one form or another), but you never get to hear their music. They are kinda the ones that seem to "stick out" as far as not posting music... and the product of "homerecording" is the music...correct? thanks in advance, if this thread produces any results.....or my apologies if I have missed a post in the past. |

I also realize that quite possibly many people won't see this post, as they don't come to this forum (that I am aware of)..especially the mic guru guys. But, at this point I am refraining from crossposting.

Ed Rei, Harvey Gerst, Littledog, Blue Bear, John Sayers and Alan Hyatt are pros. Maybe othes as well. I don't mind hearing their stuff, but it ain't exactly home recording. I like to hear it though. As for the others on your list, I'd *love* to hear their stuff.

Mix--you know I'm joking! Still, it would be of great benefit to hear what the pros do and actually be able to ask a few questions about the results.
All those mic, mixing and preamp threads are cool, but its like getting only the theory and never any practical examples. Like explaining the color red to a blind man. Its also a credibility thing with me. Now, a guy like Harvey already has my trust, but some of these guys have been posting stuff for years and I've never heard one example of their work. You know what--its probably fantastic--but when you never hear it, that shadow of doubt creeps in. Oh--and this is one post that WARRANTS cross posting! With my blessings. Might be the only way. |

Crawdad...if you put in one more smiley-teeth face, maybe I would believe your joking intentions!!
I also understand your point (actually, there seem to be two of them after the j/king explanation), and I would not be human to not say that/those thought(s) have never crossed my mind. The person that RAVES about the GREAT sound they get with a C1 mic. I'd like to hear this GREAT sound, as would the rest of us too, I would imagine. |

I've heard serious stuff from Ed, Recording Engineer, and Sjoko in here. It's been high quality stuff. The problem with pros posting in here is that they have to get the permission of the people they've recorded.

I understand your angle, but I don't see that as a hurdle. Maybe a form of flattery (or they didn't want the artist to know they frequent a home recording forum!! ) However, Shailot and Sjoko weren't on the list They've been obliging, and they are more engineers first ...Ed maybe too, as a guess. The others were/are musicians also. |

whoa...not at all what I thought he'd look like. More like a Michael Jones... what different mixes between the two songs. Both very interesting. |

My problem, I friggin read the computer tooooo much rather than getting down to it. I do really get a kick out of listening to everyone else's stuff, so if that is what I enjoy...that works too. I am going to try and "wean" myself from here a little bit though. Get a little more "constructive" with things. |

Here are some little ditties I recorded of a friend of mine that I posted awhile back. They were done on a Roland VM3100 and Logic. I like the way "When I'm Home" came out but "By the Way" is a little harsh sounding.
http://www.nowhereradio.com/texroadkill/singles I'll hopefully post some stuff done on the new Ghost/Radar rig in awhile. I usually abort most of my original projects about half way through because I decide they suck and I haven't found any musicians to come over that are worth recording. All the good ones I ask flake out. Such is life. |

tex...thanks alot!! I think I remember those.
I'll be glad to hear more what you think about your new setup. I completely understand your situation too. Seems like I come up with something...and I go "man, I like this". By the time I have heard it for an hour or so, adding tracks and whatnot, I completely think it is just rehashed junk. Most of the people I record nowadays suck too, that I am basically just shying away from that, at this point. Gives me more time to wear my butt out and look into the computer at this forum! thanks man.... I liked it too...even down to the ambient noise running around your house!! |

Only stuff I've ever posted has been 'hacked', like a cable I rigged out of old antenna wired and modified a computer pre-amp to work as a DI for a Bass guitar I borrowed... And a tiny little computer mic I dropped into the body of a shitty classical acoustic I have (held together with duct tape, the guitar..). All the while, keep in mind I'm NOT a guitar player, but I figured I'd give it a shot...
I've got almost no audio gear left after theft, and being broke and selling it, and shit like that. Hell, my workstation isn't even capable of multi-tracking (too damn slow), I can't even use reason anymore 'cause I get to many damn 'too slow' messages. One day I'll spend some money on myself, but it'll be a while! Besides, you really think I have any time to enjoy myself? Ha! W. |
