how do i tweak acid or my cpu for faster rendering?

helllo everyone, i'm running a 2.5 gig processor, 80gig hd, with 512 ddr ram 2700, and windows xp. i thought that i would be smoking in acid pro 4, but i would try and render like 6 vocal tracks and it would take like 5 min. is it just the way it is or can i tweak some settings in my cpu, and or in acid 4? if so can someone give me a quick tutorial on doing such a thing.

With that system it SHOULD smoke.
What format are you rendering to?
MP3 compression takes a little longer but I have a system that is 1/2 of yours and I have rendered tunes of 25+ tracks with 8 vox in 3 minutes or under.
There has to be something hogging certain resources in your system. I can't think of any settings in Acid that would change the rendering process other than the format you choose.

Maybe someone a little more tech savvy can help.

it is a very wise investment. i'm new to this but i can hear the difference in sonicfoundry plugins and waves. waves has taken my music to levels far greater and faster than i would have gotten with some of sonicfoundry's stuff. i favor a few of sonicfoundry's stuff like noise reduction, paragraphic eq, and time pitch. to me those are really nice, but then i have to compare them to what ever is equivelent to that in waves. i still have yet to get into everything waves has to offer. but the only method i have when i use waves, and i do use it heavily, is to open up a few tracks at a time and mix down what i can without listening to the other tracks until i'm down to the point where i have to listen to everything together so that i won't end up in that "i don't know what happened, it sounded good solo'd" position.
