Thumbs down Prob :(

Damn I have this problem,
I ordered N-track @ fasoft.com.
Option: 24-bit or 16-bit? I thaught: Let's take a look @ Creative's website.
It says: 24bit card
I buy a 24bit card
I have an Audigy. Nice card,
BUT: if you take a look at the fasoft's FAQ, you'll see:
"The Soundblaster Audigy can only record and playback in 16 bit mode, despite the specs may lead to think that it's a 24 bit card"
What A Rip-off! I've lost 70Euros...

Uh, isn't the price difference between the versions more like $24?

Yea, the best value (by far) out there and you got ripped off...

Things still tough in Bosnia, eh?

Idd

Yep, the price is higher. But I think it's not that nice of SoundBlaster to say they make 24-bit cards, if they are worth 16-bit.
That's my opinion...
Damn

Yep, the Audigy isn't a true 24bit card. Creative Labs sucks

I'm a little pissed of with n-Track too because I was forced to upgrade to the 24bit version even though I only used the 16 bit Adat interface of my Terractec EWS88D card. And I still haven't been able to sync to my Fostex VF16 using MTC.

You can use the 24-bit version for 16-bits but can't use the 16-bit for 24. I would keep it as 24-bit so that you can deal with files that are 24-bit. You may end up collaborating with someone who records at 24-bits and it is nice to be able to use those files. The price difference is minimal.

The controls for setting up the bit depth that you use for recording are in the record meter view. You can load 16 or 24-bit files without worrying about the bit depth and play them both back from 16-bit soundcards in any case.

Thumbs down creative labs sucks...

and a pain in the ass to boot. Ive got a delta 66 installed on my puter as well as an old sb 16. I cant use the sb16 for playback cause its only 16 bit whereas the 66 is 24. At leasst i didnt buy the 16 afterwards. However I kinda gotta buy me some monitors to monitor with, right now ive got adapters and ying yangs everywhere just so i can hear stuff, it sucks. Everything is gettin shelved until i build a DAW...yay.
