Akai DPS24 question

Hi,

I have a DPS24 and it's my first major piece of recording gear so I'm a newbie to all this. I have read the manual but I have a question concerning 'MAIN SCREEN' on the LCD Pod. I've also e-mailed Akai with this question but I don't alway get a response.

I plugged in a guitar to Channel 1, selected 'B' from the 'A/B' switch,
selected 'LINE' from the 'MIC/LINE' switch,
selected '1' from the 'RECORD/EDIT SELECT' switch
and '1/2' from the 'ASSIGN' panel.

I monitored through a pair of headphones and could record onto disk track 1, and playback normally.

However, on the 'MAIN SCREEN' of the LCD in the top half of the screen there is a section titled 'INPUTS'. Even though I had only selected channel 1, each of the 12 inputs showed a signal when I strummed the guitar, I was expecting just 'input 1' to show a reading.

I have read the manual, but there's something I've not understood, can you tell me why each input on the lcd is showing a reading when only channel 1, disk track 1 is in use ?

You help and advice are much appreciated,
Thanks very much,

Nicholas Turner

FYI: There's lots of dedicated DPS24 info at http://pub52.ezboard.com/fdpsworldfrm3 . You'll get a pretty quick answer, and AKAI uses the board as a customer contact node.

Make sure when you are in patch mode that you are only recording to the track you want, make sure that the rec select button is only glowing red on that track.
