Insert .wav files...
Is there anyway to insert a .wav file in a specific place in a song? The "Insert .wav" option seems to only be able to insert .wav files at the begining of a track, not in the middle somewhere. Is there an option or a work-around for this?

Just drag the wave file around on the screen wherever you want it! (use the move tool)

I also find it can helps to zoom in as far as necessary to line up a file exactly where I want it.
Now, I'm not good enough that I can double a guitar part and play it exactly enough like the original to be usable. So I fake it by copying a guitar track (the WAV file) and then importing it. I like to offset it by about 20 ms (more or less), so I zoom in close enough that the 20 ms difference is wide enough to see on the screen. Then I spend another 20 minutes zooming back out to where I'd normally have things set. ![]()

Yeah, it's kid of painful but I'd rather do that than not. When I haven't zoomed in enough to line up the tracks properly then I keep fiddling with it and end up over compensating so I try again and overcompensate again. After going through that eight or nine times guess what. I zoom in like crazy, get it right, and zoom back out. I finally decided to just do it right away and get it over with. C'mon, it's not that bad. 20 minutes might have been a little bit of an exaggeration.
I also had a case where I had a to line up a drum machine track and a guitar track. Without getting into the stupidity that forced me into having to create a new song and line up a drum track and a guitar track that was originally overdubbed on top of it, this was really painful. Even zooming in extremely close I still went through several tries to get them lined up so they sounded right all the way through the song. But since I didn't play guitar on that song I got to blame my buddy for not playing tightly enough with the drum track. ![]()

Actually, you could just right-click the guitar track, select "Clone Track", then use AnalogX Sample Slide to offset the track. This way you save time and hard drive space.
To get Sample Slide, go to http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/audio.htm

Uh, I just never do that beacuse it's too easy. Anybody could do that.
Yeah, that's probably worth checking out. I never realized that feature was there. I guess that's the whole point of these forums, isn't it? ![]()

umm...use the grid. Set it to measures, turn it on and slide your piece...with snap on it should snap right into time (to the appropriate measure) then use the offset function if ya want to delay it...or use a delay plugin heheh
Fabio needs to revise the help file to talk about lining up wav tracks because i see this question asked far too often and i personally spent a lot of time figuring it out... |
