Live Input Processing...

Hi all, new to this board cus Ive just bought N-track a couple weeks ago and Ive been wondering about this live input processing...basically putting the effects on the signal before its recorded, if I understand it right (?)

anyways, Ive been wondering if anyone uses this feature and if so, what applications? Specifically Im wondering if this would help my DI boxed bass tracks any, or is it just better to add effects toa dry track..

FYI...Im a DYI guitarist recording sequenced drums, DI box for Bass (no amp) and guitars thru an effects board

any comments would be appreciated alot
