Unhappy Back to loops I go

Having a real drummer to work with I haven't done much with loops and drum machines etc..But my drummer is off doing a solo project so I'm gonna do one too but he's not gonna be doing drums on my project. So I'm messing around with looping in Sonar.

Months ago I remember getting looping enabled and had a little fun with it but got busy with other projects so I never mastered looping. Now I'm doing something which I think should be simple but it's turning into mass frustration!

Here's what I'm doing and what I don't understand. I'm starting with just a simple bass drum beat from my keyboard that I record into Sonar. I play four beats then select the track and enable groove clip looping. Once I do that it strectches the clip which I would normally think that would be a tempo issue but I'm not "importing" a file, so that's confusing but what I really can't figure out (I've dealt with the tempo issue before) is after I drag my loop the beats get screwed up. In other words as I drag the loop the pattern repeats but is placing beats irregularly. Is there some kind of editing I need to do to keep the beats even?

Did you double check that Sonar is detecting the right beats within your original 1 bar recording?
