Fostex PS-3.1 "personal" monitors

Anyone had any experience with these? I need some reference monitors for my VF 160, and I'd like to avoid buying a powered amp if possible; these speakers come w/ internal amps for both the speakers and the subwoofer. They're also pretty compact!

thanks in advance,

i still have my Fostex PS3 monitors (the previous model). for EXTREMELY compact and "closefield" monitoring situations i found them to be pretty nice (especially for the price). imaging is pretty good and the subwoofer adds a nice bass response. for under $200 bucks, they are hard to beat. you WILL NOT get the "subtle detail" of nicer monitors and if you hit them with TOO hard a signal you will get some unpleasant buzzing/shrillness. but,..they sound better than your average "computer-type" monitor or the like. i've upgaded to nicer monitors,..but kept my PS3's,...i have a CD-walkman hooked up to them now and they make a NICE little "secondary" stereo setup (and i still use them for "secondary referencing" on occasion). cheers.
