Mackie vs. Behringer....

If you had a music store and had to deal one of these, which would it be, and why.........

Mackie.

The mixer is a better product, made in the U.S. (well, mostly), and generally an original (and sensible) design. I have one of each. Ten years from now, I'll still be complaining about the Mackie. I'll have forgotten all about the Behringer, which is likely to be in the landfill by then.

Mackie is without a doubt a better mixer than the Behringer.....however the Behringer fills a very necessary void in the lower cost alternatives for consumers that need it, and the question was slanted from a retailers point of view......

see, if you sell both (like I would) you get to sell someone a Behringer and then a few months down the road sell them a Mackie....double profit......

seriosly, I know many people that are perfectly happy with their Behringer.....

I've heard of people being happy with their Behringer mixers, and I've heard of people being very unhappy with their Behringer mixers. Unfortunately I belong to the latter group.

I bought a behringer mx 2642a before I joined this group. My mistake (the mixer, not the group). I then experienced the one major flaw with the behringer that you will read all over this place, it distorts and has very little head room. If you you need hot - life like tracks (we all do) then the behringer will distort at levels that should be clean and clear. Other then that, it is great. I am now looking for a Mackie... Mitch

The right channel of the main buss stopped working after 2 months. It wasn't the connectors, as there is an XLR jack and a 1/4" jack for each channel of the main buss (L and R), and I can't get signal out of either. Now I have to get it repaired... like my life isn't burdened enough with paperwork and correspondence.

i've had success with both. side by side at the same levels...i got to model a mx8000 and the 32.8... the behringer actually had more headroom, but the pres had a lot more air... distortion.. i never had a problem with the mackie or the behringer...
only problem with the behringer.. the psu blew like 3 fuses in a month
