Soundtracs Topaz Questions

Hi, I just got a Soundtracs Topaz 12-4. I have read a lot about the 24-8 and bought it on the assumption that it would live up to the good reputation the other Topaz mixers have. I do not know much about it though and am looking for some opinions. I was wondering if it has similar preamps that the Topaz 24-8 (project 8) has. And if not, if the pre's are better than the Mackies. I was also wondering what a fair price for this mixer would be. I judged the price by what the Mackies were going for and compaired those. Any thoughts on this mixer would be much appreciated. Thanks.
