Anyone own a BOSS BR-8?

I might pick one up used with manual. I heard that you can upgrade the operating sytstem from 1.2 to 1.4 so that you can use 250MB computer disks vs zip disks and then move those files to you computer via the disk (a:/ drive) to master or mixdown/convert to wav file sor mp3s. Is this true? Can I still acquire the upgrade and if so how?

Do you like the BR-8? Otherwise all I can afford is the new Fostex MR-8. I appreciate your feedback

I have one and did the 250MB conversion. Please do a search first because this subject has been covered. If you have any more questions, email me.

I use one.
If you are going to mix with computer software you really don't need to make the 250 move. Just get yourself an external zip drive and download the wave convertor from Rolands website.
As you load your first 8 tracks you then render them from your computer to a stereo wave file and use the convertor to switch it back to a BR8 file. Plug it back into the machine and you have 6 fresh tracks. You can do this indefinately as you are doing all the mixing on the computer. I have tunes with 25 tracks and the unit is nice!
