Well, not too long ago I bought this weird looking cardioid mic at a yard sale for $10. What the hell, it's made by Shure and has a serial number, so I figured it had to be worth $10. Well, I hooked it up and nothing happened, so I turned on the phantom power, and nearly blew my head off. Turns out it's a line level wired broadcast mic built to work on some mercury batteries that can no longer be made legally, or phantom power. unfortunately, all my pres cannot take line level in and provide phantom power also . So today I bought the little Rolls phantom power supply for it. What the hell, it cost $700 in 1976. What a weird mic. It's smooth like an NTK, has almost no handling noise, rejects almost everything off axis. I'll bet this thing will be good for cabs, drums, and the spoken word. Anybody got any other ideas?- Richie
