Shure 578?
Hello, I bought a box of stuff at an auction for a dollar, that contained a Shure 578 "Omnidyne" mic. I'm sure it's not very good, but would like to know what type of mic this is regardless.(dynamic, condenser?) Looks like an a Shure 81 condenser, but smaller. The cord is integral and lo-z with a XLR on it. Thanks

i'd guess by the name that it's an omnidirectional condensor, but other than that, i've no idea.

Well, you got yourself a dual impedence omnidirectional dynamic mic for high quality public adress and recording applications.
http://www.shure.com/pdf/discontinued/578.pdf This link should tell you what you need to know. The last one rolled off the assembly line in 1984, and it's probably a fair close mic for acoustic instruments.-Richie |
