U47

So a friend just got his newly purchased U47 back from BLUE, who fixed it up for him. He wants me to test drive it for the next week or so. I just so happen to be recording my band's first EP this coming week. I was wondering, is there anything I ought to know about the U47? Tips, suggestions, and what not. I was wondering what signal chain you all would suggest. As far as preamps and compressors go, I've got:
-Joemeek VC1q
-RNP
-2 RNC
-Digimax LT
Not a hell of a lot to chose from, but your suggestions and experiences would be appreciated all the same.

I'd like try the RNP, so I'd probably just go straight through the RNP to the console. I wouldn't compress it unless I had too, or if I was looking for that effect. I usually like to find out what I'm dealing with (basic set-up), then decide if it needs any help.

Actually, most U47's have a built-in "self-destruct" mechanism that will act much like a bomb the moment it is plugged in to a preamp with an odd-numbered impedence match.

It's like playing Russian Roulette. The only thing you can do is send it immediately to the following address for testing and removal of explosive implants:

Chessrock
PO Box 1851
Chicago, IL 60647

And please, mark "EXTREMELY FRAGILE" on the box. Thankyou.
