Baritone & 12-sting on the cheap?

I was just told about this site, last night, as it relates to home recording on the computer-based recording side. Right now, as far as axes go, I already have a Squier Fat Telecaster, and a Squier P-bass, with a Realistic MPS-45 (10W), Fender AmpCan (15W), Squier BP-15 (15W) and Vox T-25 (25W) for my amplification choices.

As I continue to gear up, toward Mac-based home recording, I'll be looking to add a few more guitars, including a Squier Standard Telecaster. I'll be wanting to record my own versions of some Bert Kaempfert, and Byrds songs, so what's the cheapest I could get away with, as far as a baritone and 12-string electric? Both the Danelectro baritone, and the Bocca 12-string I've seen in Musician's Friend for about $350.00. Any issues, with either of these? I definately can't afford a Rickenbacker, and Schecter's Scorpion Tribal is a bit more than I can handle, right now.

On my choice of the Realistic combo, I'm going on past experience, having owned one before it was stolen in a break-in. With the distortion turned on to 2 or 3, some folks might think I'm playing a bass. Recently turned distortion all the way to 10, used my slide on the Fat Tele...now I know how to make an axe growl!

Hi I don't have much technoligal knowledge but if you're getting a 12-String then I would recommend getting an acoustic and micing it or putting a pickup on it. The real beauty of 12-String is far more obvious acoustic style.

I have a Danelectro twelve string electric DC12 and it's an insane value for the price.
I'd stay away from the models with built in effects though.

It's not a Rickenbacher but for the price what do you expect.

As far as Molly's acoustic comment I find an electric twelve string to be a totally different animal than an acoustic.

Part of the secret to Roger McGuinn's sound on the twelve string is heavy compression.

I once had a Montana 12-string acoustic that, if I'm not mistaken, was made by Kamen...the same folks that make Ovation. Also had an Epiphone Texan before I knew that this was part of the Beatles' acoustic stable. Alas, both of them were stolen, back in '98, when someone broke into the mobile home I was living in. Lost my Synsonics portable, and Realistic combo amp the same way, 2 years later, when living in a different mobile home in the same park.

Aside from the Bocca electric 12-string, I'll be looking at other brands, including Fender, depending on the price. At this point, I pretty much know what I want...it's just a matter of when I'm able to add it to my collection. I'll definately be saving, toward obtaining another Epiphone Texan, but as far as an acoustic 12-string, even Fender sells 'em cheap enough, so I don't necessarily need the same as before.

I don't yet have anything online. Just now getting things setup, and still have some software and hardware to add. Once I have something, I'll let y'all know.
