Question Tom Cram-Do you mind a ?

I have a question on an older piece of DBX gear I was hoping you had some knowledge of.
A while back I did some recording for a friend (for free) who later gave me a piece of gear.( I recently unearthed from my closet.) I was wondering if it was of any quality or should be relegated to the scrap heap.
It is a DBX II Dynamic range enhancer Model 128 ser# 4745.
It appears to be a 2 channel dbx ty 2 noise reduction unit for an old reel to reel (or ?) it has switches for noise reduction in / out and a separate section with a stereo compressor / expander.
Is this of any use in today’s studio?
If not I was going to get rid of it.
If you have time get back!

Tom Cram is on a distinguished road
Sorry...

The unit you describe was actually made by a different company called dbx Consumer. They have been out of business for about 12 years. Unfortunately since dbx Professional had no affiliation with this consumer company I don't have any info for you.

However, when dbx Consumer went out of business Musicians Service Center bought out all of their parts stock, manuals, service manuals, schematics, etc. I would try contacting them for info. 408 297 7532 www.musicianservice.com
