Help! Wireless System Advise
I need to pick out a wireless system and I've searched here and found some useful information but I still can't make up my mind. I've got about $300 to spend.
With that amount of money, can I get something that will work somewhat trouble free, without degrading the signal strength too much? Nobody in my band uses wireless yet. Should I stick with a cable instead? (i'd really like to be wireless) units im looking at: Sennheiser d1092. $299, it's digital which says it can eliminate the need for the compander (compressor expander) it says the list is like 799, and it's on clearance right now. AKG wms 40. $249 reviews look very good, but it's only one antenna so it's not true diversity. It says it uses somesort of saw filter and doesn't need it? this one has GREAT battery life. is nady just something to stay away from even if I spend like $300 on it? Please...need to buy it this week, and I'm afraid I'm going to get stuck with something that sucks. |

For starters make sure it's UHF, beyond that the Sennheiser is a good choice.......don't know what kind of batteries it uses though.
Some transmitters use 9v and others use a couple of AA's, try to go with AA's, it's a big difference in cost down the line. |

philboyd is right,....
Stay with the Sennhieser. Just be aware that any wireless system under $500, though will do the job,.. will not be great. If you can, try and save up another $160.00 and buy this http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/.../base_id/52910 It's on sale for $459.00! This system sounds excellent!

Agreed, a wireless is not a place to skimp. I've been using an AKG WR-2000 and though it's been very good to me, connections are starting to wear out from the constant set ups.
eyeslikefire, Does that Sennheiser use AA's in the transmitter? |

No it uses a 9 volt. And also to point out, I used to use a 9 volt rechargable battery but I would get about 30 minutes of good audio. With a fresh Duracel or Energizer alkiline I get about 6 to 7 hours. Serge.......
