Motif and the RS7000 question?!?

I haven't really understood this!?! What's the dif. between the Motif and the RS7000?

I really like the sounds in the Motif, but will I get those in the RS7000 as well?

Not the same sounds...Peep...

I was kinda juggling the 2 myself and realized they are not the same just ones a keyboard and the others a beatbox... Same type of concept just deferent macines though... RS7000 is less performance orientated so the sounds are not quite as good (out the box). With some programming they can be pretty good though. I think the sequncer has more tricks(knobs) and the drums might (might?) be different (better?). The Motif seems to have better overall sounds and concentrates more on the sounds and sound programming. I think the sequncer lacks a lot of the tricks and definatly the knobs of the RS7000. Basically the RS7000 is a "beat box" workstation (hiphop, techno,etc..)and the Motif is just a overall midi workstation. Sorta like a TRITON.

I think Yamaha kinda made the them to work together maybe????

At least that's what I've kinda come up with. Nothing I've said is offical though. Still juggling a few questions myself on the 2 myself.

Okay I got some info from a cat that uses both...

The sequencers are similar in the 2 units... I use a RM1X and found the RS to be similar to the RS. So RM1X is to RS as RS is to_______ . Very nice...

Different sound engines but both have very useful sounds... RS is a lot like the RM1X just phatter sounds. MOTIF I assume is set up to compete with the TRITON. Which it does well.

Motif knobs can do most RS functions just gotta use menus to assign the fuctions... Good to know. I'd miss those quick knob tricks.

Motif has the sound cards... Nice shit if you ask me (and the cat using it).

And I was off some saying the RS isn't really for performance use...I guess I wasn't thinking about something like a DJ using it... I guess i'm more a studio cat...An O.S update is due also(wondering???).

Just got the info and wanted to past it along. Hope it helps out. No doubt if Ican get a break I'll grab a RS7000or a MOTIF . Stilll up in the air though.

Preciate it FLO...

New RS7k OS update out now!!!!!!

check out http://www.rs7k.org for more info on the RS. Join the RS newsgroup at yahoo.com for a few days or weeks to check out the stuff users are contending with. Worth a serious look if you've got the time, and really wanna know.

Don't bother with the motifator.com RS forum (but if you wanna learn about what the Motif is capable of, check it out), because it's turned into a pool of shit. Hopefully, it'll be cured instead of shut down...

<I think the RS sounds (and the rmx1) come from yamaha's anx-1 or something. I can't remeber. I got corrected on this several months ago on this site. If you care to know for sure, do a search>

Good luck.
