VTB-1 Insert

I've ordered a VTB-1, and would like to use the insert to patch in a compressor. The wiring layout drawing shows a type of "Y" cable. Anyone know where I can purchase one like this?

Thanks,

Bob

They sell them at most music stores. They actually call them Insert Cables, oddly enough

A dbx 163 or the 263 is perfect for this.

I've only got two comps- an Aphex 108 and a Dbx 286. I was going to insert the 286, because it also has a gate. I've grown quite attached to that gate.

Right - 8th Street. $179/shipped. Wish I didn't have to go to work today.....like to just sit on the porch and wait for the truck!

The wife is waiting for the UPS man. If she e-mails me that it's arrived, I'm leaving work early!

I use the VTB-1 as well...you should enjoy it!

Chad, let me know what you think of the RNP, or better yet, post something in the clinic. I dig RNC, and FMR's business model (like SP's) is fantastic! True angels of home recording...

The VTB1 arrived a day late. I took off work today to play with it.

It doesn't work. I think (hope) it's the power supply. It will turn on momentarily if you really play with the wall wart, but then the lights slowly go out. No signal at all. Well, I may as well go to work.

Great.

The FMR Audio RNC1773 compressor sits nicely on top of a SP VTB-1... its perfect also.

Sure... I'll get right on that, Tom (Comparison of VTB1 & RNP, anyone?)

Thanks Bob,

Let me know when that shows up because we had a UPS problem and some shipments got screwed up in the computer. The problem is, UPS is having some problems trying to tell us which ones, so if you don't get it soon, let me know please.

T’was the night before Christmas
And all through the shack
Not a preamp was stirring
A wall wart to lack
The C1 stood waiting
The VTB, too
But nothing with which
To plug it into.

I ordered in time
To beat the rush
The amp arrived
But the wall wart was mush
So I sit here
And curse my bad luck
And watch at the window
For a big brown truck.

So turn on your preamps
And bathe in their glow
Position your
LDC’s just so…
Record one for me
The Powerless One
And post MP3’s
When you are done.

Just wanted to bump this up and say that Alan Hyatt had a power supply sent via overnight express (Yay, Alan!), and the C1 is now running through a nice little glowing VTB1. The sound? Smooth.............nice, clean gain with no artifacts. I tried it on a vocal and an acoustic guitar track. Excellent! I am just a rank amateur, but I think even I would be hard-pressed to record a bad track with this setup.
It needs to be said that throughout this little ordeal, Alan has gone overboard to fix the problem, and he was actually on vacation at the time! With his help, I also ordered a T3, which should arrive Wednesday. Thanks, Alan.

Bob
