Avalon U5 rackmount kit

Avalon sells a kit for rackmounting the U5 acoustic guitar preamp... does the kit securely hold the U5 or does it just give it a surface to rest on?

The RM-1 kit designed for the 1-U5 is designed as 19" rack mount connecting both sides of the unit to be securely mounted onto a rack.

While were on this topic what's your opinion on the U5? How does it compare to other direct boxes and do you believe it's worth the $500.00 price tag as I seen it at GC today.I'm looking for an all around direct box which does it all, is this it or do you know of any shortcomings?Any opinions are welcome...
