Butt...

let me give you hint before we start...

DON'T SHOUT!

Caps is considered as shouting, and as such is quite annoying...

Right, now that I have that out of the way...

I'd jump right in with Cubase... From what i've seen, it's more pro oriented than Calkwalk ever was, although i'm unsure on Sonar.

As for a synth - i'm unsure, i'm not a Synth fanatic, so I'm in no position to recommend, although i'd give some thought to some of the software synths with a hardware controller, something like a "Kenton Control Freak" or something... Reason is start.

Audio Editors... hmmm... I've only used Soundforge, and quite frankly, I've never seen the need to go elsewhere... many of these editors do the same things in my eyes... althouhg others can probably advise you better.

If your going to be working with modules etc, as well as acoustic instruments etc... get yourself a good mixer (MAckies are pretty good) as well as some nice Mic's - (if your in the UK... RED5, Studio Cpoject C1 and Rode NT2/NT1000) are all relatively easy to find...

most of all...

get your ass over to Digital Village and listen to the equipment before you buy it. compare a few of them by listening to the sound, not by looking at the price tag and the case.

Cheers

R
