unbehaun is on a distinguished road
Question

Must I reset the fader settings on my Roland each time I want to make a CD on my computer, or can they be saved somehow (I seem to remember something about using the SCENE button for this). Or could this be achieved by using the Cakewalk 6 I have on my computer (which I haven't used yet). Thanks!

You can, do both (Roland and Cakewalk).
The VS recorder remembers every "last" position. When you shut down, and restart, the faders will be still be (in the display)at the same position in Mixer mode (orange lights), even if you took he faders physically down "after" shutdown.
For your CD burn I would save them in Scenes like you mentioned.Save your mixes. They might never come back.
