Pc Skips/clicks

Why am I getting these little skips and static-like clicks on the playback? I'm getting good sound otherwise. Is there some sort of automatic sound dampening thing in a soundcard or something. It seems like the problem is worse when I have a big sound going. Any and all ideas are appreciated.

Yeah, definitely need specs of computer and what equipment you're using to record. Cheap mic? Cheap sound card?

Thanks, yes LR Baggs Pickup/mic/preamp-(good stuff) through MX602 mixer- through SB16 sound card and into Win95 in a wave recording program.

I believe you run a trouble with the drivers. Have you visited creative's site to get latest driver ? Looking to what you have, (SB16) which is an ancient card, you may want to upgrade to newer like Live! or Audigy. Better yet, take NO SB product, they tend more for gamers, not musician. Take so me like Delta 66, Echo Darla, etc...
BTW, did the noise printed in the wave block ? or it's just the way it play back- which noisy...?

playback only pops and clicks on win95 is the interrupt irq's turning on and off. Its a matter of optimization of the devices, Id reload win95 and all the drivers with a new soundcard. Ive had the problem on my wife pc. It went away after what I recommended. It sucks. Wheres my spell checker? anyone?

I could not see anything in the wave block, but this program pretty much sucks. It is eliminating entire notes and making a spark-like noise, because it sounds like sparks in a fire. Anyway that is good advice, to upgrade. Card and software. Thanks.

Wink

I've heard alot of complain if you enable DMA on several CD drives (though not all). It causes noticable crackle on your sound. BTW, most HD don't need DMA enable since they're faster than CD drives. But however, you can try enable it , and see how they work in your system. You can turn this feature off if found something wrong.
