Angry K2000 voicing problems in song mode

Hi folks:

I seem to be having a bit of a time here. There are a few things happening here:

1) I go into song mode, and record two or three tracks, and then save the song. Later on, I go and record another song, with different voices, and when I go back to the original song, I notice that all the patches have changed on that song too.

2) When trying to include drums in my song, I assign the first track and channel to drums, since it is the default channel for drums, and the only way you can get drums to play (drum channel = the master drum channel). After making this change, I get other tracks on this and other songs sounding only the drums.

Is the sequencer just bad in the K2000? Should I consider doing all my sequencing on the computer, using the K2000 keyboard to input on the computer, and then control the sequence from there? Keeping in mind that ultimately, I want to run the sequence from the computer, through the sounds of the K2000, then record it back into the computer digitally.

Has anyone else seen this funky changing of sounds in the sequence? When I look at the events page for each track, the right patch is being selected as a program change, but the sound isn't matching.
