I'M NEW AT RECORDING AND NEED SOME HELP IF ANYBODY CAN.IS THERE A GOOD SIGHT OUT THERE THAT MIGHT HAVE A BETTER PRICE THAN 4199.99 FOR THE VS1680HD PACKAGE? THANKS!!

I just bought the VS1680. If you look around the web you may be able to find a used one below retail (check harmony central and check e-bay-I've seen a loaded system for around $2500). You have the option of getting 1 or 2 plug in cards which contain a ton of effects so you won't need outboard effects gear. To really find out what your getting, I suggest getting the May and April '99 back issues of Electronic Musician. These contain a full review of the VS1680 by itself and compared to 6 other standalone systems. I am still new to the system. I will try to pass along info as I learn my way around the unit.

I just bought the VS1680 2 days ago from a local music supplier. Their price was a few hundred bucks higher than any of the mail order guys, but when I showed them their ads, they matched it. No shipping costs! Got the unit and 2 effects cards for $2550!
