I saw a PSR540 for $200 a few weeks back. I bought my Korg 01/wfd in spotless condition for $500 5 years ago and could've sold it for $1000. Saw a XP60 for $600 they go for double on EBAY. Bought a DM5 for $75. A MK4902 for $20. A DR.660 for $80... I'm sorry but those are all great prices. Half or better. So for something like a cheap midi controller (like my 4902)... Make that trip and you might find the keyboard/comtroller you really want...

oooooooo a dr 660!!! say ive been posting everywhere the last couple of days...how can a person program tempo changes within a song on one of those??? I bought one of those (at a pawnshop...uhh for more money i think...125$ canadian) please tell me you know how to do this before I resell it...

ps i do the pawnshop thing...about once a week...and I know quite a few here i frequent, I just have no clue about keys...

Sorry I only used the 660 as a sound module and my power supply is busted so I can't even take a look at it to see if I can figure it out. Sorry.

Let's say you spot a board at a pawnshop... Get a price and write the model and make down. Before you leave tell em you'll give em $100 (or Canadian equivilant) less than they have it for. They'll either say yes or no... Come back to this site and ask if it's any good for the price. That way you can talk to users who might also be able to help you learn how to use it. Look up the board on the net. If you like it and the price is right go back and grab it.

I didn't know anything about my Korg 01/w fd but thanks to the net I realized I was making a extremly great purchase. I never regretted it. Even found a mailing list for my keyboard that helps out when I have problems.

hehe well thanks anywyas about the drum machine...lol Ive asked a lot of places with not much luck, my god next time Im buyin a new one (manuals apparently explain how to operate stuff)...as far as coming back here and asking oh yeah...this site pretty much kicks ass on anything ive seen so far, all the input here is incredible, and Ive learned a ton from reading so far (just not a helluva lot on the drum machine)...as far as that keyboard its a yamaha i know that much, and its frickin big...for 99$ new maybe thats what caught my eye ( i think it comes with a stand too)...the main thing was the midi interface tho...k im ramblin on thks again

those 99$ keyboards aint too bad...they're pretty cool, i like to play with `em...the one i have has a drumkit and DJ sounds...its fun to just tinker with...

most pawnshops in my area want MORE than the price of the damn stuff when NEW !! I'm not kidding.

There's some good stuff out there, but pawnshops are now mainly big corporations too, and they want their buck. I once saw a Carvin DC200 guitar, jet black, mint (VG) condition and they were asking US$650. I could have bought it new in-hand for 700. 2 yrs later, it was still hanging in the same rack. Offered them $300, but they politely declined say they had "$550 in it"... I've seen Roland, Korg, Yamaha, Peavey, JBL, Fender, Ibanez, Gison, ESP and all sorts of other stuff out there, but most is overpriced and there is some real CRAP on those shelves too.

In short, I haven't seen a good deal in a pawnshop in my area for years. Maybe I should go look again !!

Record the individual measures in whatever tempi you want them to be. Then, you go into the song record mode to assemble them into a song in Step Time. Say, for example, in Song 1, you have measures 1-20 at 120 bpm but want the next 15 measures to be at 150 bpm. The solution is simple: make the measures that are at a different tempo Song 2, and then chain them together. Remember to turn the Song Chain? function ON when you're in song record mode.

So... if you have several tempo changes within one song, just make a new song for each tempo change, and then chain all of these together.

ok that sounds about right ...when i got this thing the first (2) songes were set up like that...itd play song one at 116 bpm then song two would pick up right at the end of song 1...at 144 bpm...ok next question...do i set the tempo before or after i press record???...and i dont know how to turn song chain on thanks again...

I don't have mine in front of me, but I'll try to remember...

When you're in Song mode, you can select Realtime Record or Step Record. Choose Step Record, then hit "record." Now, there's a series of options you can get by pressing the keys that have the arrows on them. I think they are:

Drum Kit = On/Off (On if you want to keep the same drum kit throughout your song)

Tempo = Setting this will set the tempo for the song.

Chain = On/Off = Turning this ON will tell the machine to go immediately to the next song when the current one finishes. You should select ON.

Hit "Record," and then enter the # of the pattern you want for each measure. Say for example you want pattern #121 - which is, let's say, a simple 4/4 w/ the kick and snare going BOOM, Smack, BOOM-BOOM, Smack and w/16th notes on the hi-hat - to be measure 001... hit ENTER, and then do the same for all the remaining measures. The measures will automatically advance to the next one each time you press ENTER, but you have to rotate the data wheel to input the pattern numbers.

Now that I think about it, I can't recall if you hit "record" right after you enter Step Record mode or not, but all you have to do is try it and see. You can't mess anything up.

my thanks very much overseas...I was wondering what those things were for, on here it abbreviates them, CHN for chain, INT for tempo, and the drumkit on or off as well...so yes basically when I record the song (first it has to be in pattern mode) I press record, then it gives the options on tempo etc, then press start and Im off to the races...Thanks a million once again...hopefully thats all the agonizing questions I have of this machine, I dont anticipate using it for any more than that, although it would be nice to use it to send the pattern into my computer via midi, into ntrack, where it plays the beat but the drum kit itself is a vst kit. I know Im just greedy ....hehe
