Wanted: Mpc-60

Hi guys!

I was thinking lately about switching to hardware... I first thought about buying the Korg Karma but I finally realized I like the raw old sounding sound of a MPC60... So I looked on ebay and I saw only one and I don't know how much I'm ready to put on one of these machines... So I'm wondering if anyone here has a MPC 60 he would like to sell or knows where to find one...

Thanks in advance,
Beathoven

Good luck. The 60's on some vintage equipment type shit. You either pay alot or get one by luck. Forget what the going price on one now is. Put a APB out on a few online WANT ADDS. I think ther are some drum machine boards like this one.

The MPC 60 is a beast. You wan't it for the 12bit sample rate or cuz of the midi timing? I used one a few years back and the size was really the only thing that impressed me. Shit is huge.

Something against the 2000xl's?

Have you tried pulling your samples at 12bits withyour software? How bout swing?

I just want the hardware thing to see how it feels to have 'hands on' the beat...

I heard a MPC working and I gotta agree: No matter what people tell you, there's a difference between software and hardware... A MPC just sounds better (IMHO)....

I want the MPC60 for the 12 bits sample rate and the midi timing and everything!

Peace,
Beathoven

Lightbulb

Word....

The way those sampler/DRUM MACHINCES quantize is there signature.... Its what sets how your tracks are movin.....

Has its own ambience.......

SP1200
MPC60
MPC2000

A clear difference between other hardware samplers much less software ones......

But through experience and a lot of tweaking and learning the software models you can defintely be able to make phat joints with the software......

B_Oven you don't like the MPC 2000 ? it is very similar to the MP60....

Ima keep my ear open for the MP60 for ya......

What the dealy when Ima hear some more heat kidco....

Yo rat... I've been looking around and I may buy the 2000 too... Depends what's available...

I'm sorry but with that DJ FINGAZ shit I ain't gonna post shit on the net anymore... I know he has been banned but he's still around and I know it... You can't really block someone from a website permanently...

That's wack cause I liked to get feedback from people here but I'll have to work on my own now...

Peace bro,
Beathoven

I have an MPC60MkII, and I recently bought an MPC3000. In my opinion the MPC2000 just doesn't compare to either the 60 or the 3000. Sure it's cheaper, but it's for a reason. All of what's optional on the 2000 is standard on the 60 and 3000, and the sound, and feel of the sequencer is not as good.
I was thinking about selling the 60 to keep only the 3000.....but no, the 60 has some sentimental value to me, so I'll keep both.
Good luck with your search, but if you find one, go for it you won't be disappointed.

60 vs 2000(xl) vs 3000

i've used all of them and it really depends on what your looking for out of the mpc. from my experience they all have their advatages and disadvantages.

1. mpc60/60II -

advantages-
made by roger linn. if the dark, grimey sound is what your looking for then this is the one. samples from vinyl at 12bit the best sounding out of all of them to me. 8 ins/outs has 2 midi in/4 midi outs

disadvantages-
not enough sample time and unless you found one thats already been upgraded you will have to pay extra for more sample time, scsi port and hardware upgrade.probaly kinda hard to find but not impossible.

2. mpc3000 -

advantages-
made by roger linn. samples @ 16bit and the sounds are tight. has 2 midi in/4midi out, expandable to 32mg, has smpte option and my favorite is vga output so lcd screen will show on external monitor. 8 in/outs. has a better & fatter sound than any of the other mpc's to me.

disadvantages -
expensive. the 3000LE model(standard 32mg,smpte option, vga & custome black paint) runs about $3200-$3500. you can find regular 3000 used on ebay usually around $1600.-$2000.

3. mpc2000xl

advantages -
cheapest out of all the mpc's. can find one starting off about 600 or 700 used.samples @ 16bit. i personally like the screen(can see better) than the other mpc's. on editing features i liked being able to see the waveforms and edit them.

disadvantages -
this one was not made by roger linn so it has different filters and sounds different to me than the 60 or 3000 on 2 midi in/2midi out. everything that optional(memory, smpte, 8in/out,etc) cost extra

4. mpc4000

havent really worked with this one enough.

***so again to me its what your looking for. the 60/60II give you that 12 bit grity and grimey sound. the 60 & 3000 give a sweet fat sound that the 2000 or xl just dont produce.the 2000 or xl is still a nice machine and basically you get out of it what you put into it. if i had my choice i would make the perfect machine and be able to take the good things out of all of them to make the perfect machine. right now i have the 3000 full blown and i dont plan on letting it go for awhile.***
