What do you guys think about the Roland VS-880 effects card mic simulator patches...?
(Namely: SM57-SM58, SM57-UB7, DR20-D421, and DR20-U87)

Sincerely,

I used to use them all the time, but recently I starting putting more time into the actual mic placement and found they don't do a whole lot for me now. They do change the sound though, sometimes quite a bit, and depending on what you are looking for they can be useful. I don't really have a clue as to what some of the mics simulated sound like, but on the 880 V-xpanded demo "song" of the mic simulators they sound close to what Roland says they should be. Again, I have no idea if Roland actually did what they said in that demo though.
