Santana's cool, but I think my next CD purchase will be Lightin Hopkins.

Santana's good, but I just bought an amazing Elmore James CD.

Ole Lightnin' is cool. I like listening to his foot on the floor, tap tap tap tap tap...

Santana is hyped.

There's one Carlos Santana album that I really like ... Blues for Salvador.

Yep, that and Caravansari (1973) Welcome (1974) and Moonflower (1978) are my favorites. Welcome has some of his best jazz work, really awesome stuff.

They bill it as Santana, but is there really a BAND called Santana anymore?? Seems to me that it is just Carlos and a bunch of guests. I also think Santana is overhyped. He just stays current because he plays a couple of licks on songs by the trendy artists of the moment. It all sounds the same to me. You wanna bring back someone from the 60's, get Alvin Lee!!!

Agree, I actually can`t stand listening to him, out of tune and that awful tone!!!!!
This is my subjective opinion, so don`t flame me for getting sick each time I hear him.....

i agree.....while his older stuff holds its own, any chump could throw 'latin flavored' licks over a good song.......the thing is, he has the respect and name recognition that others don't, so he can kind of cash in on his name.....this i don't mind so much, the fact that he's cashing in, at one point, he was revolutionary.....that being said, it bothers me when people continue to lick his balls for throwing overdubs on top of a pre-written pop song
